Wunder Travel Diary: Forsthofgut Naturhotel

Travel

Nestled at the foot of the mountain in Leogang the Salzburg region of Austria, Forsthofgut Hotel is the jewel in a small alpine resort town. Just like the town Forsthofgut offers an array of sports throughout the year. We spent part of our fall break there enjoying the changing color of the leaves, biking, relaxation and so much more.

Day 1

We Started the girls fall break with a quick jaunt to the Tergernsee and the next morning we began our one hour road trip to Austria and the Forsthofgut Naturhotel. I am generally skeptical of kids hotels because there are very few that are tastefully designed. Upon our arrival to Forsthofgut I quickly became enamoured with the quaint charm of the alpine design and the surrounding mountain vistas. Once you enter the lobby you immediately feel at home. The warm interior with families playing card games, sitting in spa robes, Stokke highchairs and an extensive family program board with activities for kids of all ages.

As we waited for our room we were given a tour starting in the nursery room for moms and babies to the art room and parkour space. Everything was tastefully designed with parents and children in mind.

After getting settled in our room, the girls had a little room with bunkbeds, mini robes and slippers. My husband took them to the indoor water slide and a afternoon of swimming fun. I went to the gym and had lymphatic drainage at the spa.

At dinner we were taken to our table which was also our table for the duration of our stay. Offering organic and locally sourced fair we were excited to see the menu. You could choose from buffet style or a la cart, I really enjoyed the tomato risotto the girls loved everything from the buffet. After dinner there was movie night in the kids club but we decided to relax in our room.

Day 2

We woke up to a misty morning excited to get the day started. We went to breakfast and found on our table the morning mail a cute summary of the day, it came in English and German which was so thoughtful. We debated between signing Bella up for a tween mini facial or mini massage. Swimming was the girls number one priority, they loved the indoor slide, but first we went with the Kids Club to feed the animals at Mini Gut. Nova could not stop feeding the donkeys. Bella is requesting more independence so she went to the waterslide right after to meet her new friends who were from Lisbon! Jakob and Nova joined after and they spent literally 4 hours on the waterslide and going to the various heated pools. Once I finally bribed them out of the pool, we used the hotel bikes and went for a family bike ride enjoying the beautiful scenery while our toddler screamed her head off in the back trailer :|

Day 3

Our last day! We were sad to leave but were happy to squeeze in some last few activities for the girls. Bella played soccer and Nova enjoyed her favorite a pony ride. On the Wunder Travel Scale I would give this hotel 4 stars it ticked all the boxes for great design, family relaxation and enjoyment!
